Only 12 Losing Jobs From Train Cancellation

Go figure - more BS out of the Doyle administration.  The loss of 12 jobs by the cancellation of the high-speed rail is not the 80 Doyle claimed in fact, not even close.  It must have damn near killed the the people at the Journal Sentinal to report this one.
Most of the jobs the Liberals claimed would have been created by the high speed rail anchor would have been construction jobs.  What happens to construction jobs when construction is complete and what would it have meant to the WI taxpayers?  Do I really need to tell you the answer to that?

Wisconsin Losing Train Money

Taxpayers in the state of Wisconsin have a reason to rejoice today - the federal money has been pulled for the useless Milwaukee to Madison train and we escaped owing only $14 million.

650 People Pack Madison High-speed Rail Open House Hosted By Minnesota DOT

At a recent rally there were 650 people still holding onto that pipe dream that this train is going to happen.  One of the people at the rally was a 72 year old woman that made the comment "how much longer do people want me to be on the roads?"
Can someone explain to me how many 72 year olds can afford the $60+ round trip ticket?  How often would she use the train from Miwaukee to Madison and why?  If she can afford it - shouldn't she be a good Liberal, stay home and pay more taxes to support government entitlement programs?

Doyle Obligated $67 Million To Rail | Contracts Show How Far Along Planning Had Progressed

The following is taken from the referenced article:
Walker's transition director, John Hiller, responded: "The Madison-Milwaukee the train line is dead.
Wisconsin taxpayers will not be on the hook for multi-million-dollar ongoing operating subsidies because of Governor-elect Walker's efforts to stop this boondoggle."

Governor-elect Walker needs to remember why he was elected and a big part of it was the stopping of this taxpayer nightmare project.  Remember Mr. Walker - we are watching.

Mayor Talks Up Madison High Speed Rail

The mayor said his budget may not include figures for the added spaces he hopes the state will pay for.  Let me interpret that for all of you - he hopes the Wisconsin taxpayers will pick up the bill.  It makes the budget look better when the taxpayer wallet gets opened.

Where's The Outrage Over $1 Billion-Plus For Widening I-39-90?

I got a kick out of this article in the Madison Cap Times.  The author of the article is a train supporter and is looking forward to the rail being between Milwaukee and Madison.  He has a valid question on why nobody is outraged by the $1 billion price tag to expand I90 to 6 lanes from Madison to Illinois and I think I have an answer for this question.  I would venture to guess that the 60,000 vehicles that use that stretch of road on an average day - which means the 21,900,000 vehicles that use that stretch of road in an average year (using the DOT statistics) find it a wiser way to use our tax money you jackhole! Rush-hour Rail Simulation Proposal Shot Down By City

Running a rail simulation would seem to be a smart thing to do so that the public would be able to see just how big of a pain in the ass an above ground rail system is going to be in downtown Madison.  Why would the Liberal city officials not want this to take place? They don't want the public to know what a bad idea this is until it is too late.

County Clerk Calls Commuter Rail Tax Referendums A 'Huge Waste' Of Money

I read the article and I must have missed why this would be a waste of taxpayer money.  I don't know if he feels that the cost of adding it to the ballot is a waste because the public should overwhelmingly vote this down or because the RTA referendum will only be for people in the RTA district.

Top 5 Reasons We Say "No Tax For Tracks" In Dane County!

5. We don't want to have the highest sales tax in the state!
The proposed half-cent increase in the slaes tax needed to pay for the train's operating subsidy would give Dane County the highest sales tax in Wisconsin!
People would shop elsewhere fo rbig-ticket items like furniture, cars, boats, and building supplies for new homes, which will kill good-paying jobs.  Also, a sales tax is a regressive tax that hits the poor the hardest - those with the least ability to pay!
