The final results are in and the winner is................Prosser! Wow! Was that recount was worth the taxpayer cost of $260k (not including the 3 biggest counties)?
Oh but hold on there - this still isn't over. Kloppenburg has until May 31st to file a court challenge, state law would require Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson (Kloppenburg's mentor) to name a reserve judge to hear the case. Geske said she expected Abrahamson and the reserve judge would both move swiftly, but even so, such a challenge would likely take months to resolve, particularly if it continued into the appeals process.
If a court challenge were filed and continued after Aug. 1, Prosser's seat would remain vacant until appeals were exhausted, according to Kelly and Haas, the Government Accountability Board lawyer.
